Brody Wilson, massive Tsunami over the 110ft dirt hit at Reche Canyon. Kid, you're just showing off now... PHOTOS: SIMON MAKKER
Unit has sent two of its Aussie recruits into the US field to capture the action of all that is going down in the Land Of The Brave And Free. We arrived two days ago, and have spent that time filming and shooting with big-name FMX rider Brody Wilson at the freeriding mecca of Reche Canyon, near Riverside CA, and with MotoConcepts rider Kyle Chisholm, who's making a gritty comeback from a massive crash at the Houston SX earlier this year.
First up, we hit Reche Canyon, and we have been blown away by the skill and style of the chilled-out Brody Wilson. As well as his ridiculous extension and trick execution Brody has proved himself as one hell of a freerider and natural terrain jumper, easily crushing 140ft hips with tweaked Seatgrab Indies, and technical off-camber hits. It soon became obvious why Brody was given such a huge part in the latest installment of the On The Pipe series - this cat has style for days!
Forget big butts, Brody loves big hips. Obviously.
On day two of our trip we spent the day with the MotoConcepts team as they prepared for the upcoming motocross season. We followed Kyle Chisholm out to the Competitive Edge MX track on the edge of the highland desert on the way to Vegas and watched as he pushed hard as he comes back from a huge crash that saw him break ribs, puncture lungs and lose litres of blood trackside at Houston several months ago.
Kyle Chisholm takes in a breath of fresh desert air at Competitve Edge. Welcome back, mate, we've missed you!
But now Chiz is BACK! The likeable Floridian is pushing for 30-minute motos and come the first round of the Nationals in three weeks time, you can expect him to be lining up on the gate and charging hard. It may take him a few races to get up to speed as he continues the long recovery process, but after seeing his pace today, we have all the confidence he will be back to full strength sooner rather than later.
After several months off the bike, then returning to your lifelong passion, you'd be smiling too.
