The most I’ve paid for a skateboard is $25.� That’s how much I paid for my BRUCE LEE complete when I began my skateboarding career back in ’92.� Just a few years later, I was already sponsored by COOCHIE and never paid for a deck again.� How much do you spend for skate decks?� $40?� $50?� 650 PESOS?� Well what if I were to tell you that you could have purchased a one of a kind deck once owned by Jamie Thomas for a measly $38.425?� You could have but you lost your chance. A one-of-a-kind skateboard auction combining popular skaters and world-renowned singers recently concluded, and the results were record-breaking. An autographed board ridden by Jamie Thomas and also signed by Bob Dylan sold for $38,425, believed to be the highest price ever paid for a single skateboard deck. The board was also adorned with the handwritten lyrics to Dylan’s famous song “Blowin’ In The Wind” (right). The auction was the brainchild of musician Ben Harper, who wanted to combine skaters and music icons to help the Tony Hawk Foundation build public skateparks in low-income areas across the country.
